Pursuing Inclusive Teaching in the Classroom

Keynote speaker: Gloria Ladson-Billings, Professor Emerita at The University of Wisconsin-Madison, President of the National Academy of Education

A renowned expert on culturally responsive teaching, Gloria Ladson-Billings delivered a keynote address, entitled “Culturally Relevant Pedagogy and Inclusive Teaching Now,” focusing on why we should integrate inclusive practices in college teaching.

Kerrie Kephardt, Associate Director of the UMBC Faculty Development Center, then presented a hands-on workshop on practical strategies for inclusive teaching that address the contexts of race, class, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexuality, ability, and learning styles.
